Where did you grow up and where do you live now?
I grew up in the countryside surrounded by animals and nature in the Midlands. I now live in the Lake District.
What does a typical day look like for you?
I never have a typical day! With the type of person I am and the nature of my work I enjoy the diversity – I am always working but when your work doesn’t feel like work – you got it good- and I believe in creating your destiny- starting with your internal dialogue. Mantra and meditation create positive patterns to make my life beautiful in every way.
What drives you every morning?
Just being alive and healthy- but the thought of breakfast is always a good one!
Who has influenced you the most in your life and in what way?
I am influenced all the time by everything and nothing however I have learnt to listen to myself as this is the only true compass by which to live.
You are big into health food, tell us more about it.
I adore food simply for my pleasure but most importantly I believe that eating the right foods is crucial to health and healing! I know that when I eat whole organic foods I feel amazing from every angle- I am fit and lean and have energy, I have clarity of mind and emotionally I am happy and stable. Eating the right foods have the power to heal. I have heard so many wonderful cancer recovery stories of people following the Gerson therapy- Doctor Gerson was a genius – the diet they follow is toxin free – full of fresh fruit and veg juices along with coffee enemas to rid the body of toxins allowing it to heal. His daughter, Charlotte Gerson, who in her 80’s now is carrying on his good work and there are two clinics (one in Mexico and the other in Hungary) and and institute is in San Diego. Putting the right foods in your body really is that critical to our health and yet I always thought I could ‘get away with it.’ Treat your body like a ferrari and give it the best petrol!
I also adore watching Dara channel on youtube- watch it and see why- her infectious character and wonderful raw recipes and spice for life are so inspiring.
Tell us a little about your upcoming retreats.
We have a retreat to Turkey with the wonderful Gabby Maass who is my teacher. She is Iyengar and Vinyasa trained and has over 25 years experience which really shows- her classes are transforming and I am very grateful to be working with her. The place we are staying at is Suleyman’s Garden in Turkey which is a stones throw from the sea and the food is mostly grown in the garden or locally sourced organic delights for us to sit around a large table and enjoy together. We will be practicing yoga for up to 4 hours daily in a purpose built yoga shala, which is fully equipped should you not wish to bring anything for lighter traveling. This retreat is running on the 2nd- 9th of September – flights to Dalaman.
What inspires you to lead these retreats?
I love ‘PG fun’ as my great friend Saphie would say- meaning ‘clean fun’ and this essence of healthy fun is what we aim to achieve. My business partner Chloe and Myself love to travel and get to know places, cultures and people but most importantly the sense of bringing people together and creating a space for them to relax, breathe and live in the moment is the best part of running retreats.
What advice do you give your students looking to change themselves?
Change is part of the cycle of life and change is a positive thing. But start with loving who you are NOW in this moment as you read this and the change you are wanting will start to occur naturally. Yoga, meditation chanting, cooking and eating the right foods are all great tool to help you start to LOVE who you are in the NOW.
